Natural dyeing with pine cones

Recently I discovered by reading Rebecca Desnos' blog, that the cone pines are actually good candidates for natural dyeing. L.C. Cariou also experienced such type of natural dyeing.

Natural indigo dying

Hey, dear all,
I'd like to share my handcraft experience with natural indigo dying.
Based on the Shibori technics, I dyed different types of organic cotton and linen fabrics.
First I had to prepare the dying bath, using natural indigo pigments. I chose to do a fully natural dye bath. So I reduced the indigo powder into a hot tap water + alcohol 90° solution. Then I mixed this solution A to the dying bath prepared with fructose, quicklime and water heated at 50°C during 1h.
While I let the dying bath waiting, I prepared the fabrics. After cutting, I used different Shibori folding technics, in order to obtain different patterns after the dying process.  One last step but very important one, I soaked the fabrics into a water bath before dying it, as it helps the dye to penetrate into the fabrics.

My son's room

We have recently renovated the room of our son, as the rest of our house. The wallpaper was too old and we wanted a new fresh color.

366 Concept Armchair

I recently bought a 366 Armchair. Actually I wanted to buy an armchair since a while but I was looking for the right one. I wanted a chair not too big, made of wood and velvet, and with a scandinavian or 60's design, or both!

Origami pendant light fitting

I was looking for an original but not too expensive pendant light fitting for my son's room, and I found on the web that the recent tendancy for Origami lampe-shade was very interesing one! After few hours on my laptop and several trials with white papers, I finaly found the right tutorial to manage to do it by myself.
There is actually nothing really difficult to use Origami folding technic to make a nice lamp-shape, but you would definitely need to be very patient, calm and meticulous. First, you must be very precise when you draw the lines to follow for the folding. If you miss one milimeter, it could impact the whole shape after folding. Then, from my point of view, the difficult part is the folding itself: you must precisely follow the lines, otherwise, at the end you won't manage to shape it! And the most important are the angles!!
For the installation, I added to my pendant a black textile thread and a metallic-gold socket to the bulb.
I thank the community for sharing the good tutorials because it is a really nice idea, and particularly Lemon Rock for the precise guidlines!

White amaryllis - the flowers of winter

Amaryllis is a bulbous plant of great beauty that blooms in the fall or winter indoors. I had the chance to get two white plants as a gift, and to see them flower. This is a really wonderful show to observe in winter! So enjoy the pictures!
